雙層片劑在生產過程中對於兩層藥物分離狀況很難進行評估並達到有效的控制，透過此專利設計裝置對雙層片劑進行剪切測試，可評估其雙層片間的黏性(Adhesive)。

Bilayer systems typically contain an immediate-release component in one layer and the extended-release component in the other layer. Visual characterisation of the fracture surface is necessary to quantify the percentage of each fracture failure mode. This enables manufacturers to optimise their tablet formulations for adhesion of the two tablet components.
